Are you up for a CHALLENGE? We've got two for you!

Julie Wyatt - Monday, August 06, 2018

Have you registered yet for the 2018 5K Run for the Future to Benefit the Radiation Oncology Institute? This year’s race promises to be bigger and better than ever! We are excited to run in beautiful San Antonio (click here to see the course map). Join us bright and early at 6:44 a.m. on Monday, October 22nd as physicians, residents, industry leaders and others run/walk to support our industry! In addition to our top male and female runner trophies, your organization could win one of our team challenges!

1. Academic Team Challenge - Academic institutions are invited to declare a team (made up of residents, faculty, alumni, or just fans!) to compete for $1,000 in scholarship money, a trophy, and bragging rights! The top three times from each team are averaged into a single “Top Team Time.” There is no charge to declare a team (other than the usual registration fee paid by each runner). Academic teams who are interested in competing this year just need to register online and create a team. At least three runners are required to qualify as a team.

2. Corporate Team Challenge - Your company can declare a team for no charge (other than the usual registration fee that each runner pays) to compete for the esteemed title and a trophy! To score, we take the top three times from each team and average them into a “Top Team Time.” Our sponsor companies (Varian, Elekta, Accuray, Northwest Medical Physics Center, and Tier3MD) are automatically registered in this contest! If your company is not a sponsor, you can declare a team by registering online and creating a team. At least three runners are required to qualify as a team.

Individuals must be identified with a team no later than Sunday evening, October 21st. We'll be recognizing the team with the best spirit/highest number of participants on race day, so start recruiting your team members now!

This year we're also offering a new fundraising mechanism that will allow individuals or groups to raise money for the ROI. Runners as well as non-participants can now become individual fundraisers or they can create fundraising teams. The team or individual who raises the most money will be honored with a giant banner at the finish line! Click here for more information.
